On 23 August 2018 the High Court in Banfield v Campbell, 2018 EWHC 1943 Ch ruled in favour of a cohabitant’s claim for reasonable financial provision, pursuant to the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975, after his partner of more than 20 years died.
