Wills – not just about finances: Testamentary Guardians and The Brangelina Brood

Posted on October 21, 2016

Wills, trusts and probatesSocial Media went crazy when Hollywood’s golden couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie announced their impending divorce. Now the dust has settled the focus has turned not only to the division of their financial assets but to the arrangements for their children.

It is often the view that people should only start making plans to draw up a will in their later years however, a will can be the most important asset in planning for their children’s future. Should Brad and Angelina both die in quick succession of each other, (and both clearly have knives drawn), then there could be a question over who should look after their six children.

The best way forward for any parent is to ensure that their wishes are known as to whom they would like to be appointed as testamentary guardians to care for their child or children after their death. Likewise, it is important that a parent’s estate is in order to prevent any disagreement or dispute between their children after their death.
